ReadSafe Ratings is a voluntary book content classification system developed by the Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History, Inc. in response to growing censorship and book bans across Texas and beyond. Designed by authors, for authors, the program provides clear, neutral ratings to help readers, parents, educators, and librarians make informed decisions—without restricting access or creativity. With simple letter-grade classifications and optional content labels, ReadSafe Ratings empowers authors to protect their work, support transparency, and ensure their stories stay where they belong: in the hands of readers.
